About Us
The Department of Physical Education was established under Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Miraj, in year 1983, which is one of the top Women’s College in the Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The Department of Physical Education is established in order to create, resourceful and eminent sportsman and well citizen of India in the field of Physical Education. Since its inception, this Department has successfully produced many sportsmen, who are currently serving in various field of Physical Education and other fields. The Department of Physical Education, it is aptly situated in the Sports arena at College, which caters to all the training needs of the students and more facility is available for students. The Department of Physical Education & Sports is one of the vibrant departments in KANYA MAHAVIDYALAYA with full of activities. Facilities in the department are: Athletics, Chess, Cross-country, Football, Handball, Hockey, Basketball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Baseball, Softball, Fencing, Tae-kwon-do, Weight-lifting, Power lifting.

- To enable prospective Sportsman to understand the nature, purpose and philosophy of Physical Education and sports.
- To develop competencies necessary for Physical training and coaching.
- To develop knowledge, skills and competencies necessary for imparting Physical Education.
- To enrich knowledge of personal and community health.
- To promote the capacity to competition games, sports and recreational activities.
- To foster interest in Physical Education and appreciate its role in school and society.
- To develop an understanding and appreciation of indigenous approach to Physical Education, exercise, games and sports.
Activities
Also Organizes every Year Yoga Camps, Fitness training Camp, Skill training, Special Game vise training Camp. Having access to the proper meditation, physical fitness techniques can help men, women, and children boost their confidence. This significant knowledge can help us keep calm.
We also provide coaching/ Training for the above-mentioned games. Our students participate in competitions Inter-college, state/ West Zone/ All India University.
The department also organized Annual Athletics meet every Year. There was Department organised various Activities done. Successful players are given cash as well as gifts from the college as prizes.
